Personnel
David has been in the industry since 1972. Starting as a surveying assistant for Land Services (Tolworth) Ltd for approximately 2 years, David was then sent to Zambia for three months for the sister company, Mike Campbell Surveys. After the 3 month tour turning into 3 years, David then joined Engineering Surveys (ESL) based in West Byfleet for almost a ten year period.
Although involved in major control, transmission lines and housing schemes in Zambia, with the odd period of transmission tower design, positioning and setting out, David had to start again as an assistant with ESL for a few months. With Engineering Surveys, David was at times overseas surveying in Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Zaire and on the Brent Field oil rigs in the North Sea. Leaving ESL David went on to help build Survey and Engineering Services with Barry Darling, David helped install and set up the Eclipse ground modelling software system, which revolutionized the company and the work it was able to take on. With a staff of almost 50 people, along with Neil Harwood running the engineering part of the business, David dealt with the organizing and running of the surveyors, the survey processing and CAD office. He also was involved in helping to run the accounts office, dealing with quotations, invoicing etc. and also managed to fit in some actual surveying as well. Survey and Engineering Services closed in the summer of 1992 and with a period back at ESL, David felt it was time to venture out on his own to offer a complete service to the client base he had personally set up. Now with this wealth of practical knowledge and resilience, David with the help of Colin Harding for the first 7 year has brought CD Surveys Ltd, to a position that is an important asset to all the clients that use the company's services. The companys culture through Investors in People and the ICES CATS scheme has enabled the business to go from strength to strength.
