2017 was an interesting year for CD Surveys Ltd. In general, the construction industry seemed to be rather quiet and with a quiet start to the year for CD Surveys things inevitably picked up and soon enough we were talking about expanding and employing new surveyors. Back in September 2015 we were invited to quote for some interesting engineering work for a project taking place in Bagshot, Camberley. The project was the construction of a new 4-bedroom family home. This was no ordinary family home though as the shape of the building was a unique design indicative of a boat moored to a jetty.

C D Surveys were commissioned to carry out a topographical survey in the Farringdon area of London, the job entailed approximately 200 meters of road with around half being pedestrianized. This may seem a straightforward task, yet as many surveyors will know this often not the outcome when working in London as the case quickly became apparent.

CD Surveys were instructed to carry out a topographical survey of a large site in West Sussex. The site was around 370 acres in total and consisted of around 2km of roads surrounding the site, approximately 250 acres of farming fields with the remaining balance of areas used as offices, warehousing, Treatment plants etc.

At the start of the year CD Surveys were approached to discuss how we can carry out a monitoring job to assess if the concrete foundations for two portacabin class rooms were moving. Given our extensive experience with monitoring basements for multi-million-pound houses across London, we thought this would be a relatively simple task.

The company who occupy the building are in the process of moving office and the existing tower block is due for reconstruction. The details given to us by the client were very limited but we were asked to create floor plans of each of the 7 floors. (6 office floors and plant room) plus a roof survey and 4 elevations for each façade.

East Lothian council have asked us to create a 3D, high density point cloud, topographical survey, elevations, cross sections and drone survey. This is all to aid future building work they plan on doing. Including possible ladder replacement, new pontoon and other feasibility exercises at the Fisherrow harbour in Scotland.
